April 12, 2021 by ansari

How to Moisturize Curly Hair

Naturally, curly hair is always gorgeous but the people with curly textured hair do not think so. This is because managing and styling curly hair is the most difficult task for them. Curly hair is more prone to frizz so dreaming about smooth and defined curls is not a bed of roses. If you have curly textured hair then you would have to go through multiple problems like frizz, damage, flyaways, etc. you cannot style your hair by just grabbing a comb and some hot tool. But you have to take extra care of your curly hair to make it always look manageable and smooth.  The beautifully managed curls cannot be achieved so easily but you need to do some extra tasks to get beautiful curls. You might be thinking that a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment can make your task easier. Yes, I can but it cannot make your hair look moisturized. You have to keep your hair moisturized so it always looks defined and manageable. Moisturizing curly hair is as much necessary as giving plant water and composts because hair cannot stay healthy without moisture. It does not mean that you should keep your hair soaked in water, that’s not the kind of moisture we are talking about. Our hair cuticles have some essential oils that are responsible for our hair health and hair growth. If your hair is rich in these essential oils then it will always look smooth, manageable, and frizz-free. But if it is a lack of these oils then you must face frizzy, dry, and manageable hair with rough looks. In this article, we will show you how to keep your curly hair moisturize all the time and make it defined and manageable.

Here are some tips that will help you to achieve smooth curls every day without using hot tools. You can follow these simple steps to keep your curly hair moisturized and manageable. We will share a hair care routine for your curly hair so that your every day becomes a great hair day.

Step-1 (Washing hair)

Wash your hair with a shampoo that is sulfate-free because sulfate can create frizz as it makes your hair dry. You need a shampoo that is combined with deep conditioning oils like argan oil, castor oil, or avocado oil. These oils penetrate your hair strands making them smooth and frizz-free. Your hair scalp needs oils to get moisturized so it the best way to deliver oils to your scalp. In this way, you won’t have to deal with oily scalp but it will rinse with shampoo.

Step-2 (Deep conditioning)

This is another step you have to perform while washing your hair. Take a pam of deep condition and apply it to your hair strands. Focus on hair length and hair ends where dryness happens. Let it on your hair for a couple of minutes, you can leave it like that for about 30 minutes. Your hair strands will better absorb the product and become manageable. After that rinse, your hair with normal water, avoid too hot water as it could damage your hair strands making them brittle.

Step-3 (Towel drying)

You should not rush towards hot tools to dry and style your hair. This is because the hot tools take the moisture from your hair cuticles away leaving it dry and damaged. Therefore, towel drying your hair can better heal your hair and help to absorb the natural moisture. Towel drying does not mean that you have to rub your hair with it, but you need to wrap your hair inside the microfiber towel and leave it like that. Don’t twist or rub your wet hair too hard as it could damage your hair strands making them frizzy.

Step-4 (Prep your hair before styling)

If you want to style your hair using a blow dryer or a straightener then you must grab a leave-in conditioner or a heat protectant. You can skip this but the results would be horrible as the hot air can damage your hair and reduce the natural moisture. Therefore before using any styling tool you must prep your hair with a leave-in conditioner or a heat protectant. If you are going to diffuse your curls then apply a lightweight heat protectant spray of foam to define your curls. You can also use a cool setting of your blow dryer to dry your curly hair as it will not affect the hair quality.

Step-5(Finish with oils)

You can finish your hair care routine with essential oils to keep your hair moisturized all day long. In this step you need to choose the right oils for your hair strands, moreover, you have to put oils on the strands only not on the scalp. Coconut oil, olive oil, and avocado oil are good options to keep your hair healthy and moisturized all day long.

  2. Apply heat protectant or leave-in conditioner foam/spray or gel on wet hair. Because wet hair can absorb the product effectively than dry hair.
